Google lets you build with Lego in Chrome

Google has been working with Lego Australia to build the largest Lego set ever created. Only this set exists purely in your browser, and lets everyone build their very own creations without being limited by the number of bricks in a box.

It the good news is that you can try it in New Zealand & Aussie first!

The Lego creation tool is being called Build, and forms the latest Chrome Experiment. You can start building immediately by visiting the Build with Chrome website where you can choose a plot and begin piling up the bricks. And for such a simple tool the structures you can create are surprisingly varied and complex. The video below, for example, shows the Sydney Harbour Bridge being created.

For the moment you can only claim a plot within Australia and New Zealand, but Google intends to open up the map over time to other areas of the world. It’s worth claiming a plot now though, as the space available is finite and Google is treating claims on a first-come-first-served basis.

As well as seeing how creative individuals can get with their little plot of Lego land, I’d also like to see some collaborations larger larger, multi-plot structures appearing. No doubt we’ll get a few Google+ Lego Circles appearing specifically for such an undertaking.

And if you haven’t got Chrome you should as it’s awesome! Get it here»
